Kapitaal Utrecht is an open studio for analogue printing techniques based in the city of
Utrecht in The Netherlands. With exhibitions, lectures and music, Kapitaal is a social
place where craft, design and pop culture meet.
Before Kaptitaal Utrecht, there was little for young artists and designers to do in
Utrecht. Exhibitions were often too serious and lacked the fun and enthusiasm of
creating and making art and products. Starting 12 years ago with just a few screen
printing tables and relief presses, low-threshold exhibitions combined with music,
Kapitaal Utrecht is now a busy studio where creatives work non-stop to develop their
artistic and technical skills. A hangout for dirty printers and future creative gods with its
own ridiculous record label and, hopefully, an international artist-in-residence
program in the near future.
