What is special about chalk-pastel pencils?

Chalk-pastel pencils such as the STABILO CarbOthello have a special lead that allows a dry and dusty smear, as with charcoal or drawing charcoal. As a result, the painted can be blended and smudged dry. In addition, the painted with water is partially paintable, i.e. the contours remain visible even after painting.

What do I have to keep in mind?

When painting with chalk-pastel pencils, it is advantageous to use paper with a rough surface, as the pigment particles adhere better to it. Thanks to the soft lead, the STABILO CarbOthello is also ideally suited for sensitive drawing papers.
