Learning to write

The right fountain pen for enrollment

We'll help you choose your first school fountain pen to make learning to write a fun experience.

Fountain pen or rollerball?

If children write too slowly or too irregularly, if they press too hard or if it is difficult to read the result, it makes sense to use an ergonomic rollerball instead of a school fountain pen. This promotes a relaxed pen position and a clean typeface, even with increased writing pressure. If the correct pen posture and basic motor skills (speed, pressure, rhythm, form) are already working well with the pencil, we recommend that young writers use their first school fountain pen. With it, elementary school students can develop their own handwriting and handwriting style.

STABILO EASYoriginal

Learning to write is an important step in a child's development. The STABILO EASYoriginal rollerball pen was developed to support little writing beginners on their way to neat and legible handwriting. The ergonomic, non-slip grip zone provides a firm hold, supports the correct pen position with its recessed grips, and prevents premature muscle fatigue and pain when writing. The ease with which it glides across the page helps with fluid writing.

In addition, the ink flow is specially designed for writing beginners, which prevents smudging of the letters and leads to a clean typeface - even for left-handers. The ball in the tip of the rollerball only releases ink when it is moved on the page. This makes "ink pools" a thing of the past. The cartridge, including the writing tip, is replaced each time it is refilled.

STABILO EASYbirdy

The ergonomic fountain pen with the non-slip grip zone is available in special versions for left- and right-handers. The special feature of the STABILO EASYbirdy is a unique feature: the 30-degree adjustable angle of the nib means that it adapts to the individual hand position of children, so that the nib always rests straight on the paper, making writing easier. The result is clean writing, with no blotting or scratching.

Replacing the entire writing insert, including ink conductors, ensures trouble-free nib replacement and writing performance like the first day. In addition, the nibs are edged with a protective ring to prevent blue fingers. The super robust school fountain pen is available in many color combinations. To help children keep track of which fountain pen is theirs, the EASYbirdy has a name field.

STABILO EASYbuddy

The STABILO EASYbuddy is an ergonomic school fountain pen with a non-slip soft grip zone. The universal grip, which is equally suitable for left- and right-handers, promotes a relaxed pen position and prevents premature muscle fatigue. The pen is available in many color combinations and three nib variants. The A nib is ground in such a way that it optimally supports fountain pen beginners in writing, as it is more flexible in terms of ink flow when the pen is held in different positions. The M nib is suitable for children who already feel confident writing. The L nib's nib grind enables left-handers with their special hand position to write neatly without scratching.

With its robust iridium grain, the fountain pen nib gives a long-lasting and even writing feel. With the extra-large viewing window, checking the ink level of both cartridges is a breeze and there are no nasty surprises. In addition, a specially developed technology in the cap of the fountain pen leads to an optimized leakage protection.

Kids write differently!

Writing skills and problems are as different as the children in a school class. Incorrect pen posture, uncontrolled hand movements and excessive writing pressure are difficulties that often occur even during the first attempts at writing with a school fountain pen. When buying a fountain pen, it is therefore particularly important to take the child's individual requirements into account.

Ergonomics

Child-friendly, ergonomic grip zones optimally support young writing beginners with the correct pen position. They provide a secure grip and enable controlled writing while the school fountain pen lies relaxed in the hand. The grip zones, which are adapted to the needs of children's hands, prevent premature muscle fatigue and ensure that even longer writing exercises are easy.

Handedness

The handedness is also an important factor in choosing the right school fountain pen. While right-handers pull the pen from left to right when writing, left-handers push it. In addition, children who write with their left hand need a grip zone that is adapted to their hand. This places special demands on both the fountain pen nib and the ergonomics of the pen.

Nib

The nib is one of the most important components of the school fountain pen. It puts the ink on the paper, promotes the development of the child's own handwriting style and gives the handwriting its personal touch. Different nib settings and nib variants allow the individual needs of the children to be catered for.

By the way: If the fountain pen doesn't write correctly, it's not necessarily the fault of the nib! The cause can also lie elsewhere in the ink feed system. The remedy is to replace the entire grip including the nib.

Ink

The cartridge should not be pressed onto the piercing mandrel by hand, but only inserted into the handle. When the fountain pen is closed, the cartridge is pushed onto the mandrel by the replacement cartridge with the correct pressure and is fixed in the correct position by the closing shaft. This ensures that the cartridge does not slip but is pierced straight and clean. This minimizes the risk of leakage.

How long you can write with a full cartridge depends on the nib, the ink flow, the writing pressure and the type of paper used. It is therefore important to check the ink level regularly and always make sure that there is a full replacement cartridge in the fountain pen.
